No Rest For The Wicked – Lykke Li

Everybody everywhere mostly knows Lykke Li from her monster single ‘I Follow Rivers’ taken from her 2011 album Wounded Rhymes. The Magician remix was a huge club hit but I preferred the Dave Sitek remix which I played at gigs for months.

‘No Rest For The Wicked’ is the lead single from Lykke Li’s new album I Never Learn. In an interview with Rolling Stone she described the album as a collection of “power ballads for the broken”. I really like this chilled out remix by Joris Voorn which is one of the three remixes on the single. The original track starts off slow and builds into a wall of sound with additional vocals by A$AP Rocky, and the remix is a great reinterpretation. I’ll be playing it at gigs for sure.

I Follow Rivers – Lykke Li

Everyone is raving about the Magician remix of Lykke Li’s I Follow Rivers and it’s on constant club rotation at the moment. I’m not a fan at all. The cheesy synths on the Magician remix are grating and completely ruin what was a beautiful tune. I prefer the Dave Sitek remix from the I Follow Rivers EP – it’s atmospheric, the beats are genius and it’s much more in the spirit of Lykke Li’s music. Check it out.

You may remember I previously posted about Lykke Li’s forthcoming album. The album now has a title and a release date; “Wounded Rhymes” debuts on March 1st on Lykke Li’s own label LL Recordings. She has also announced tour dates for next year and she plays in Dublin on 16th April in Tripod – a gig not to be missed!

She has just previewed her second single called I Follow Rivers and you can listen to the track here:
