For No Good Reason

For No Good Reason is an upcoming documentary on celebrated British artist Ralph Steadman. Steadman is most well known for his collaborations with Hunter S. Thompson, but in his fifty year career he has also worked with other writers such as Will Self and Ted Hughes, been published in Rolling Stone, Private Eye and The New York Times, and received numerous awards for his illustration.

Director Charlie Paul spent fifteen years on this film – amassing the footage and creating animations  – and as befits an artist, the end result looks visually stunning and seems like an in-depth portrait of a fascinating man. I’ve been a fan of Steadman’s for years and have two of his prints framed in my house (this one in my bedroom and this big one in my kitchen) so I’ll be sure to make it to the cinema when this comes out in April.
