Look, it’s not like I have tens of thousands of pounds to spend on a watch of all things. I don’t even wear a watch and haven’t for years. But sometimes on a grey and miserable Tuesday afternoon, a girl wants to dream of owning beautiful things; being able to adorn herself with diamonds, slipping her foot into a pair of buttery soft leather boots, and fastening a luxurious timepiece on her wrist!
Chanel is a brand synonymous with luxury; from classic tailoring to fine jewellery and even make-up packaging, everything is designed with the highest quality in mind. The brand launched their Mademoiselle Privé watch collection in 2012 and it takes its theme from the inspirations that Coco Chanel returned to throughout her career; camellias, astrology and the stars, and chinoiserie. The watches are put together by a team of artisans and feature precious stones, enamel, and white gold. They range in price from £20k to over £100k and are therefore designed for collectors as investment pieces.
My favourite is pictured below: The Moon and Comet watch in 18k white gold and featuring 60 brilliant-cut diamonds in the case and a man in the moon second hand. But what I really wanted to share today are a couple of the videos (there are more on the Chanel Youtube channel) showing the process by which the watches are created. They are beautifully filmed and show the painstaking artistry and quest for perfection that results in such a unique watch.
