The 90s are back in full force, fashion-wise. While there are many trends I will not be adopting such as polo-neck dresses, chokers or crop tops, the resurgence of plaid (or check or tartan or whatever the hell you want to call it) is definitely something I can buy into. Perhaps it’s the punk associations or maybe, as I previously said, I need an injection of colour into my wardrobe, but either way some plaid will be making its way into my life soon.
I really like the chiffon check shirt from Mango which is an easy way to incorporate the trend – just pair it with skinny jeans and pointy black heels (love these ones from Zara) for a relaxed evening look. The check shirt from Zara would be perfect in the daytime with a black silk camisole underneath. The gorgeous georgette dress from Karen Millen is a more sophisticated version of the trend (Karen Millen also has a fab tartan miniskirt for those of you with great pins). The River Island jacket is a more literal take on the grunge influence but this time updated with leather (pleather in fact!) sleeves.
So what about you? Will you be bringing some plaid into your wardrobe or does it just remind you of the 90s in a bad way, i.e. Pearl Jam?!
