I don’t always watch documentaries and gangster movies. I also appreciate a good comedy and when I saw the cast for The Incredible Burt Wonderstone I knew it was a must see. Steve Carrell, Steve Buscemi, Jim Carrey, Alan Arkin, James Gandolfini and Olivia Wilde all star in this movie about the world of magic. Carrell and Buscemi play Burt Wonderstone and Anton Marvelton, a famous pair of old school magicians whose dominance is about to come to an end with the rising popularity of street magician Steve Gray (played by a very buff Carrey). The world of magic is fertile ground for comedy and it’s kind of amazing that a big budget movie hasn’t been done on this subject already.
The film came out in the US on March 8th and has received mixed to negative reviews, but with a cast like that I reckon it’s still worth a watch. It opened in Ireland last Friday and it’s on my weekend viewing list.
