The 4th annual Mountains to Sea Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Book Festival takes place from 4th to 9th September and this year’s programme is chock full of brilliant events. There are three main strands to the Festival; literature, poetry and family events. In each category there are talks, readings, panels and workshops, making the festival a truly interactive experience for all. You can see the entire festival programme here.
I will be booking tickets to see one of my favourite authors David Mitchell speak at the Pavilion Theatre on Saturday 8th. He will be joined by Claire Kilroy on the night. I’m also looking forward to seeing one of my favourite Irish writers, Declan Burke, give a crime writing workshop on 8th in County Hall.
There are lots of industry events designed to help budding writers of all ages including an independent publishing seminar, a workshop for adults on writing for children, a one-on-one TV writing workshop with Lisa Albert who writes for Mad Men (applications for this must be sent by email to the festival), a comics workshop for children and a creative writing workshop for teens.
All of this takes place in beautiful Dun Laoghaire where hopefully the sun will be shining for the festival and we can all get 99s in Teddy’s to refresh ourselves in between events!
