Hard Working Class Heroes 2012

Last night in the Workman’s club I attended the launch of Hard Working Class Heroes 2012, a festival that has become a big part of the Irish musical calendar since its launch ten years ago. HWCH takes place on 4th, 5th and 6th of October this year and last night was the official opening of the call for bands. Bands can now apply through the website and the closing date for applications is July 26th.

HWCH is an independent showcase festival for Irish bands and musicians. There will be 100 bands in 6 venues over 3 nights in Dublin city centre and one ticket gets you access to everything. In addition HWCH ensure that international record label scouts and industry bigwigs know about the festival and attend, so if you’re in a band there’s no better way to widen your audience and possibly take a few giant steps up the ladder.

Here’s a brilliant video that was shown at the launch last night celebrating the tenth birthday of the festival. The birthday cake was pretty damn good too!
