There’s been an explosion of “girls with attitude” on the music scene recently; Azealia Banks, M.I.A., Jessie J and Nicki Minaj are just a few of the more popular ones. I always play 212 at gigs and it goes down a storm and I’ve been looking for similar tunes. I found Dominique Young Unique‘s Stupid Pretty online and it fits the bill perfectly. She’s a 19 year old rapper hailing from Tampa, Florida, and although she’s only been on the scene for a year she has already worked with N.E.R.D. and Big Boi. You can download her mixtape for free on Pitchfork here and have a listen to the eight tracks on it. I love Stupid Pretty and She’s Unique.
