Stephanie Grace Foy is an Irish designer whose work I came across quite recently and was instantly captivated by.
Since graduating with first class honours from Kingston University in September of last year, Stephanie has exhibited her AW 2011 collection in London and Paris and secured her first stockist, The Convenience Store in London. Stephanie worked a freelance pattern cutter for luxury brands such as Marios Schwab and Mark Fast and during this time she began to formulate ideas for her own designs. Recently awarded as ‘One to Watch’ at the Irish Fashion Innovation Awards, the label SGF has gone from strength to strength and has been noticed by the fashion press and high profile personalities alike including Becky Jones from Saint Saviour (and touring vocalist with Groove Armada).
I have included some pics from Stephanie’s AW 2011 lookbook below. I love the shapes she creates with draping and the fluid silhouettes are feminine and sexy without revealing too much skin. I’d love to see the pieces on the catwalk as I’d say they move beautifully. There’s something quite timeless about Stephanie’s work and I look forward to seeing more of her pieces in future.
SGF will be exhibited at Vauxhall Fashion Scout, Sept 16-20th, London, which is open to the public. The exhibition gives visitors a glimpse of the next generation of creative talent in the fashion industry and if you’re in London I wouldn’t miss it.
