William Styron’s belongings auctioned yesterday

Regular readers will know that William Styron is one of my favourite authors. The Pulitzer Prize winner’s belongings were auctioned yesterday by Fairfield Auction in Connecticut. The lots include a chandelier, some Russian crockery, Federal style chairs and a clock. Styron had good taste and the pieces are all classically lovely.

The lots are all from Styron’s home in Roxbury, Connecticut, where he moved in 1954. He and his family entertained presidents, authors, musicians and actors at their farmhouse. Anyone who ended up with a piece of his from the auction is very lucky indeed!
