I loved this article on Flavorwire regarding the favourite drinks of some famous authors. Of course we all know Faulkner loved a mint julep and Fitzgerald was fond of gin, but there are some surprises in there too like Bukowski’s Boilermakers. However the list does fall down in one respect which is the oft repeated lie that Hemingway loved a mojito. In fact Hemingway avoided sugar almost obsessively as he did not want to inherit his father’s diabetes.
If I’m your favourite writer and you want to drink like me, then I suggest you buy yourself a bottle of French or Italian red wine. Some Châteauneuf-du-Pape perhaps or a good Valpolicella. Enjoy!
