The second Mountains to Sea Festival, a celebration of books and authors, is happening from 7th-12th September 2010. The festival welcomes both Irish and international authors and includes John Banville, Roddy Doyle, Pat McCabe, Paul Murray, Joseph O’Connor and Anne Enright, Jonathan Coe, Janice Galloway, DBC Pierre and Matthew Kneale. The full schedule of events is listed here and includes events for children and in schools, authors in conversation, a live performance of scenes from Ulysses, and a literary tour.
The Festival is run by Dun Laoghaire Rathdown (DLR) County Council. DLR has been the birthplace and inspiration for many of Ireland’s most influential and popular writers. Contemporary writers from this area include Maeve Binchy, Joseph O’Connor, Julie Parsons, Colum McCann, Marian Keyes, Martina Devlin, and Paul Murray.
I think a trip to Dun Laoghaire to check out some of the events followed by a trip to Teddy’s (last 99 of the summer – *sad face*) might be on the agenda this weekend.
